While interested in the healing arts for a number of years (I can now trace back my exposure to various materials and people who helped me begin my journey years ago), my greatest leap into the healing realm began just two years ago when I met a specific teacher.
My health had steadily declined for a few years, despite my effots to boost it. No doctor could tell me what was wrong; many people and doctors alike told me I was making it all up to get attention.
When I met this teacher, I was hoping merely for a streetlamp to show me where my feet could be safely placed. I was looking for reassurance, for understanding. I received much, much more.
Through a number of healing sessions which excavated deep pain and liberated stuck emotion, I began to feel hopeful. The learning spark was ignited.
My teacher sensed my desire to continue on the path. She gave me names of people and groups with whom I might speak. And she led me to my next two great teachers in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Over the course of a year, my entire life changed. Yes, it was painful, but any chick emerging from an eggshell will feel the strain of opening to a new life. A seven year relationship came to an end. My relationship with different employers and clients came and went as I experienced and grew through them. My karma accelerated and I felt repeatedly thrust into darkness, as if I was being DARED to trust in the perfection of all.
I'm still experiencing the thrust of the waves, but I know my surfboard's been carefully crafted and I will not drown.
And as I've been healing myself, so my ability to share energy and help others heal has begun to expand.
And those who seek me out have felt called to do so. There lies a lesson for us both, and we're agreeing to learn.
